    Angel Cloud Art

Angel Clouds symbolize joy and freedom from pain. Montana artist Jane Latus Emmert began painting Angel Clouds after her sister Amy, was murdered at the hands of a violent boyfriend. One evening after Amy's death, while watching a beautiful sunset she cried and said, "God, she died so violently, I need to know she's OK." And throughout the evening Jane saw shapes in the sky and she knew her sister was joyful in heaven, surrounded by the incredible love of God.

Jane began to paint the Angel Cloud shapes and eventually wrote poems to encourage and empower other women based on the wisdom the two sisters shared through the years. She still sees angels in the clouds and hopes others will look up and remember heaven is nearer than we think.

Through art, poetry and public speaking, Jane works to raise awareness about domestic violence and to help others walk through the grief process. A portion of all Angel Clouds profit is donated to domestic violence organizations in the United States.

Designing a kitchen should be easy. However with the myriad of appliances, cabinets, countertops, styles and options it can be overwhelming.

Remember that in successful design, form follows function. Design the space to work for you and your family. Discuss, think, and make lists-whatever works best for you to determine how you use your kitchen. Some of the questions might be; how many people will cook in the kitchen at once? How many do you normally cook for? Do you entertain? Will other people, for example, caterers, use the kitchen? Do you like friends in the kitchen while you cook? Will children be doing their homework in the kitchen while dinner is prepared? Do you bake? Do you eat in the kitchen? As you answer all these questions and more, the concept for your kitchen will begin to take shape.

Once you have a clear concept you can move on to planning. Address the specifics of the work triangle, storage, counter and workspace, and traffic patterns for people and pets.

The last phase is style - creating the feeling you want in your kitchen. Don't hesitate to collect pictures of details, colors, components you like and want to include. Visiting kitchen showrooms is a great way to see a variety of styles, various kinds of cabinets, countertops and appliances. Creating your kitchen takes a lot of thought and work but you'll love the result.

Congratulations to Eden Franchi who won our Super Mom Stories contest. She wrote about her mother-in- law who went above and beyond the call of duty by welcoming Eden and her family into her home when Eden's husband returned to college. I hope that Eden and her mother-in-law enjoyed their brunch at Pollo Grill and their gift certificates for the store. Thanks also to everyone who submitted an entry - it's a tough choice - there are some wonderful moms out there!

My niece Lizzie competed in the National Spelling Bee again this year. She only made it to the second round and missed out on being on TV this time. But I'm still proud! She's also going with her harp group in June and performing in Carnegie Hall in New York City. Way to go Lizzie!

Our featured artist this month, Jane Latus Emmert, will be present during Whitefish Gallery Nights this Thursday from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Her angel cloud art will be featured and originals of her work will be available. Please stop by and see Jane and get her personal perspective on her work.

We're gearing up for summer and we have so much wonderful new work coming in. Please check out our "What's New" page on our website. I try to update the page every time new work arrives.
